Prerequisites: Junior or Senior Standing or Instructor Permission. An overview of the U.S. nonprofit sector, highlighting the unique and distinct roles nonprofits perform in our society. The history and evolution of the U.S. nonprofit sector, along with an overview of the scope and functions of tax-exempt organizations, and various theories that explain the existence of the nonprofit sector and why the sector continues to grow.
